Registered Nurse – Pre-Op/PACU

Schedule: Monday-Friday & 6:30AM-2:30PM

Position Summary
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to support patients throughout the perioperative experience, from pre-operative preparation through post-anesthesia recovery and discharge. In this role, you will work closely with physicians and fellow clinical team members to provide safe, efficient, and evidence-based care while ensuring a positive patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Clinical Practice & Patient Care
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver high-quality patient care throughout all phases of treatment.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the clinical care of assigned patients.
- Supervise and direct non-licensed personnel as appropriate.
- Promote a safe surgical environment through collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
- Follow established nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Complete comprehensive nursing histories and assessments.
- Evaluate patients using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Obtain, monitor, and document vital signs and other clinical indicators.
- Recognize abnormal findings, investigate concerns, and communicate pertinent information to the appropriate providers.
- Develop individualized care plans and review them prior to the conclusion of each shift.
- Assess and document patient progress and response to treatment interventions.
- Involve patients and family members in care planning, goal setting, and decision-making whenever appropriate.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Utilize care plans to support safe and therapeutic patient interventions.
- Ensure continuity of care through thorough documentation and effective handoff communication.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities, departmental meetings, and clinical conferences.
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing standards and best practices.
- Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Have strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Remain composed and clinically focused in procedural and recovery settings.
- Value collaboration and open communication.
- Take ownership of patient care and outcomes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered nursing practice.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Operating Room and/or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Demonstrated proficiency in peripheral IV insertion, including vein assessment, aseptic technique, catheter placement, and monitoring for complications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications or comparable software.
- Extensive experience monitoring, measuring, and interpreting vital signs and patient levels of consciousness.
- Thorough understanding of patient care standards and nursing best practices.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
