Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech)
Full-Time | $23-$27 per Hour
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:30AM-5PM & Friday 8AM-12PM

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support physicians and clinical staff during surgical and procedural cases. This role is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, preparing equipment and supplies, assisting during procedures, and helping ensure patient safety and positive outcomes throughout the surgical process. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with Registered Nurses, physicians, and other members of the procedural team to support efficient operations and high-quality patient care.
Primary Responsibilities
Procedural Assistance & Patient Care
- Provide direct support to surgeons and procedural staff during operative and interventional procedures.
- Assist surgeons, Registered Nurses, and anesthesia personnel with technical aspects of patient care.
- Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures.
- Hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform additional tasks as directed by the physician.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning and draping according to established protocols.
- Assist with preparing and applying dressings and bandages following procedures.
- Handle, label, and prepare tissue specimens for laboratory evaluation.
- Monitor patient vital signs and observe patient condition throughout procedures.
- Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure the integrity of the sterile field at all times.
- Conduct sponge, instrument, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures according to policy.
- Prepare and organize sterile instrument trays and procedural setups.
- Perform surgical scrubbing and assist team members with gowning and gloving.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using approved methods and sterilization systems.
- Assemble, operate, adjust, and monitor surgical equipment, including suction devices, sterilizers, lighting systems, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure appropriate fluids such as saline, plasma, blood products, and glucose solutions are available during procedures as needed.
- Clean, organize, and restock procedure rooms following cases.
- Arrange instruments and supplies according to physician preference cards and procedural requirements.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Communicate relevant and timely information to the Registered Nurse and procedural team.
- Accurately document required information in accordance with facility policies.
- Continuously assess operating room conditions and anticipate procedural team needs.
- Maintain records, logs, and files related to surgical procedures and equipment.
- Complete annual mandatory education and training requirements by designated deadlines.
- Support departmental operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Remain calm and focused in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and commitment to sterile technique.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.
- Exhibit professionalism, flexibility, emotional maturity, and a positive attitude.
- Take pride in maintaining patient safety and delivering high-quality support during procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment required.
- Completion of an accredited or recognized Surgical Technologist program.
- Previous experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
- Prior Pain Management experience.
- Experience using electronic health record systems, preferably Athena.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications or similar software programs.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under the demands and pace of an operating room environment.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to visual and audible equipment alarms.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and sound judgment in stressful situations.
