What You'll Do
As an Authorization Specialist, you'll help ensure patients are financially cleared before their appointments by managing insurance verification, referrals, prior authorizations, and related administrative processes that keep patient care running smoothly.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits using eCW, payer portals, and insurance carriers. 
  • Review upcoming schedules to identify and resolve eligibility, referral, authorization, and insurance issues before appointments. 
  • Obtain, process, and document referrals and prior authorizations. 
  • Maintain accurate patient, insurance, and referral documentation within eCW. 
  • Communicate unresolved insurance or authorization issues to leadership and appropriate departments. 
  • Respond to patient questions regarding insurance, referrals, billing, payment plans, and financial responsibilities. 
  • Assist with patient payment arrangements and other revenue cycle activities. 
  • Cross-train in scheduling, billing, authorizations, and other operational functions as needed. 
  • Perform additional duties to support daily clinic operations. 
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accurate documentation. 
Preferred
  • Two or more years of medical office experience. 
  • Experience with medical insurance verification, prior authorizations, referrals, and medical billing. 
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and authorization processes.
